As the electric grid becomes more complex with the rapid increase of electric vehicles, distributed solar, batteries, heat pumps and extreme weather, utilities need real-time visibility of grid conditions. Utilidata’s distributed AI platform, powered by our custom NVIDIA chip, is transforming the way utility companies operate with real-time visibility at the grid edge to better utilize customer energy resources, reduce power outages, and enable quicker storm recovery. 

The Delivery & Manufacturing Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless delivery and operational success of the company’s technical products. This position involves managing technical processes, coordinating with key external stakeholders such as manufacturing partners and independent contractors, and driving the implementation of best practices to meet quality and delivery objectives. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills. We are looking for team members who are mission-driven, collaborative, and adaptive. This role will report to the VP, Technical Operations and is a hybrid position based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Candidates will be expected to report in-person for a portion of the work week and collaborate cross-functionally with remote teams based across the country. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the technical delivery of products from concept to completion
  • Act as the primary liaison between internal teams, manufacturing partners, and independent contractors to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines
  • Develop processes for and oversee supplier management, logistics planning, and inventory control
  • Coordinate procurement, production, warehousing, transportation, and distribution
  • Monitor and manage technical workflows, identifying and addressing bottlenecks to ensure efficient product delivery
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize product quality, cost efficiency, and delivery schedules
  • Coordinate and track progress across multiple projects, ensuring all technical requirements and deadlines are met
  • Review and evaluate manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to enhance production efficiency and product reliability
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain documentation and reporting systems for tracking project milestones, quality metrics, and operational performance
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication to address technical challenges and implement solutions
  • Support the onboarding and management of independent contractors, ensuring they meet performance and quality expectations

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 7+ years of professional experience including 5+ years of experience in technical operations, manufacturing, or product delivery management, or a combination of educational and professional experience commensurate with this level of experience
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of managing technical workflows and meeting deadlines
  • Experience working with manufacturing partners and/or independent contractors
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and quality assurance practices
  • Experience applying procurement best practices, including vendor management, negotiation, and contract management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software
  • Ability to travel as needed to manufacturing sites or contractor locations

Enhanced Qualifications (Nice to Have) 

  • Advanced degree in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or other related field
  • Experience with inventory management software and ERP systems
  • Working knowledge of supplier or third-party management software

Salary Range: $120,000 to $145,000 depending on experience

Location: This is a hybrid position that will spend approximately three days per week working out of Utilidata’s Innovation Lab in Ann Arbor, MI.
